A small server that teaches through failure
My Intel N100 homelab is where I learn Linux, containers, remote access, monitoring, and recovery by operating services over time. This page came from that home server; the public page does not disclose its remote-access details.
What runs here
- This static website is served by a systemd user service; it has no backend.
- Rootless Podman containers run as systemd user Quadlets, including n8n automations that report through Telegram.
- The site's image models are kept apart from site updates. The updater checks files against a SHA-256 manifest and refuses to overwrite those models.
Recovery is part of the design
A failed backup once cost me most of my Docker data. I rebuilt the backup approach around custom restic jobs for both configuration and databases, encrypted with keys kept on another system.
For website updates, the local updater backs up files it replaces and tries to restore that backup if a step fails. A matching hash only establishes that files match the manifest; it does not prove the website works.
This is a personal learning project built with existing open-source tools and AI assistance. It is not a claim that I authored every component.
